Welcome to Shellbraes Farm holiday accomodation in Northumberland.
We have two cottages here, The Farmhouse, sleeping 10 and The Studio sleeping 2, both managed by Wooden Star Holiday Cottages who offer an exclusive selection of Northumbrian holiday homes.
Ideal for larger parties, Shellbraes farmhouse is the perfect location for family get togethers, weddings at Matfen Hall, High House Brewery, Healey Barn, Slaley Hall and the Vallum. Shellbraes is on the doorstep of Corbridge, miles of cycle routes and bridleways, St Oswald’s Way runs along the rear of the farm and Hadrian’s Wall is just three miles away.
The Studio at Shellbraes is a little gem, sleeping two, the perfect rural hideaway for a couple and can be additional accommodation for larger parties staying at the Farmhouse or special first night accommodation for newly weds!
Less than half an hour (17 miles) from Newcastle air port, Newcastle Station (21 miles) and 15 minutes from the nearest supermarkets (Waitrose, Tesco and Aldi) in the beautiful market town of Hexham, Shellbraes is ideally located for a rural break.
The ever popular village of Corbridge is five minutes by car for beautiful walks along the river Tyne, independent shops/galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants or if you want to stay closer to home you can enjoy the local pub, The Queens Head, in Great Whittington with crackling fires and the extra bonus of a fabulous Chinese restaurant and take away attached – and they now deliver!
Matfen Hall is a short drive away (2.7 miles) which has a first class Elemis spa, 27 hole golf course, driving range, Go Ape and a beautiful wedding venue. Shellbraes is ideal for Matfen Hall wedding accommodation.

Shellbraes Farm
Sleeps 10. A stunning five bed, three bathroom Georgian Farmhouse ideally located near to Matfen Hall, Hadrians Wall and the Northumberland National Park.
Sleeps 2. The Studio has stunning views across the fields, private entrance and parking to the rear of the farm, Super Kingsize bed, cozy sitting area with wood burning stove and kitchenette giving the ideal location for an escape to the countryside.
The Farm is set within 10 acres of Shellbraes smallholding and is ideal for family get togethers or larger groups wanting wedding, shooting and fishing accommodation.
Ideally located within three miles of Hadrians Wall it’s a great location for walking holidays or just a fantastic spot to hide away from the world, put the fire on and get away from it all. 1 well behaved dog allowed to stay in the kitchen/family and utility room, gun cupboard and large safe.
Prices & Availability
The Farmhouse is from £25.00 /person/night, based on full occupancy of ten.
The Studio is from £47.50 /person/night based on an occupancy of two.
